Ariel (アリエル Ari Eru) is the name of an angelic looking homunculus purposefully designed by Vulcan to both assist him in his research and organizing his home, projects, planets and so forth, as well as acting as a beloved companion to help Vulcan not feel as lonely. Grateful to have been born by her "father," Ariel diligently serves as a manual laborer and assistant on Vulcan's home island; often acting as a receptionist for those who seek Vulcan out for his goods, as well as tending around the lab and house, nurturing and caring for the other homunculi and doing many other odd jobs such as cooking and cleaning.

Ariel was named after a Biblical angel whose name means "lion of God" pr "hearth of God." The name was specifically chosen due to one occult writing associating Ariel with dominion over Earth, creative forces and beasts, which resembles the homunculus Ariel's chores involving tending to Vulcan's possessions and "children," the homunculi. It was also chosen due to Wyvern finding the name to be pretty for a female angel themed character.
Ariel being themed after an angel was done purposefully in order to fully emphasize her relationship between herself and Vulcan, as Vulcan also possesses a god and creator motif to his character. Thus, Ariel embodies the truest aspect of an angel; that being a creature meant to serve as a messenger and servant to God.
