Personality

Egocentric

Tyler is a boy known for his courage and his general lack of common sense, being an eccentric individual and a real puzzle to be solved. The main topic about this is his big ego, being a very ambitious boy and with delusions of grandeur, seen this for his goal of becoming the Pirate King to change the world, however, Tyler is not greedy or power hungry, and its aim to change the world is legitimate, showing that it has a noble and respectable character.

Surprisingly, it´s said that his ego is not only his greatest weakness, but also their greatest strength. Thanks to his ego, Tyler has a lot of confidence in himself, which makes him a born leader and gives him a remarkable strategic mind, being especially good at improvising ingenious plans that have already allowed him to defeat opponents much stronger than him or improvise one motivational speech in case any of your companions lose motivation, which is why people are attracted to him and even start to see it as a kind of small light.

Simple-Mindedness

Because he was raised in a difficult environment and received a relatively simple education, Tyler tends to be easily surprised, especially when visiting an island or when he sees the ability of some other character, usually another Akuma no Mi user in this case, giving the he the famous hillbilly stereotype. Thanks to this, Tyler occasionally exhibits an enormous lack of common sense due to a lack of information about the world and an enormous honesty, saying what he really thinks and generally causing even more problems. He also has trouble respecting someone's privacy, even during private hours, and can break into a women's bathroom if he thinks something is wrong or if his curiosity gets the best of him.

However, something bigger than his ego and his stupidity, is his heart. Tyler is a kind guy and essentially a good-natured and optimistic person. Despite being the leader of his team and technically having to take a more serious stance, Tyler is very easy-going and generally does not take things too seriously, always looking for an optimistic way to deal with the situation. He often fights his enemies in a way that makes it look like he's having fun with them and sometimes making jokes in the middle of the battle, which further annoy his enemies. Despite this, Tyler is a kind and loving captain with his comrades, treating them as friends instead of subordinates, and even though he often makes the wrong decisions as a leader, he always considers his friends' protection and feelings.

However, Tyler is able to become serious and objective when necessary, and it is on these occasions that his position as a leader is praised, being responsible and accurate in dealing with situations that require such a stance, showing that he takes his job quite seriously. Thanks to his strategic mind given by his big ego, Tyler is able to make the right decisions during a confrontation and is a more than competent leader in finding a use for each member of his crew and keeping the group together.

Tyler is especially good at analyzing the skills of his teammates, having an enormous proficiency in creating strategies that work with the strength and skill of each one and can use them in the best possible way. He is also a great emotional anchor, believing, trusting and motivating them whenever they have a big doubt or little confidence, giving them the courage they need.

Sarcasm

Tyler naturally exhibits a sarcastic and funny sense of humor, having a kind of mocking and ironic humor. That's because he is not intimidated by someone's greatness, letting the villain make a long speech about his goals just for the boy to tell him to shut up and say he doesn't care.

Morally Complex

Tyler had a few episodes of Blue and Orange Morality. Tyler has a good idea of what is right and wrong, but he doesn't seem to apply it to people, as he usually doesn't use the rule book. He doesn't really care about concepts like good or bad and will simply do what he thinks is right, since he occasionally doesn't kill his enemies, but he does leave them alive. This is because he simply does not want to kill out of pity or because he does not consider his opponent a danger, but as for really despicable villains, he thinks that letting them live to see their dreams destroyed is a better punishment, considering death a very light punishment. Although he does not kill, he is not against someone giving the final blow, considering a karmic death for the villain.

Emotional

Tyler is also very emotional and is not afraid to say what he feels at the moment due to his raw honesty. If he is happy, he jumps and dances, if he is angry he shows that he is, and if he is sad he cries and lets off steam.

Will of D

Tyler carries many of the characteristics of a D, having absolute courage and not fearing death. Tyler has full faith in his dreams and goals, wanting more than anything the freedom of the world from the clutches of the World Government, with his catchphrase: "turning the world upside down", alluding to the myth that the appearance of a D will rock the world. He refuses to betray any of his companions and is able to withstand degrees of punishment beyond imagination, showing his absolute loyalty. Tyler further states that on the day of his death, he will die smiling.

Other features include narcolepsy, where Tyler starts sleeping at totally random times, and a big appetite, which can devour an entire banquet and still not be enough to satisfy him. In this case, Tyler doesn't seem to have a problem with food, whether it tastes bad or good. One example is that he can eat large amounts of spicy food and not feel the burn, and was probably the only being who ate an Akuma no Mi and found it delicious.

"Peculiar Tastes"

One of Tyler's most curious features is his strange taste in women. He claims to like "giant women" and especially strong and fearless, however, he is also "unscrupulous" in terms of race, so much so that he claims to have already fallen in love with a mermaid, a half giant, a woman from the Long Legs Tribe, and that it is further interpreted due to his romance with the Mink, Pandora, which makes him "romantically strange" to the other characters in the series.
