Donovan D. Dragon (ドノバンD。ドラゴン, Donoban D. Doragon) is a Scientist who is in search for power to take revenge on AdmiralAkainu who long ago destroyed the Donovan's home island. He is an older brother to a famous criminal Tyson D. Dragon and they are also the last successors of the famous Dragon Clan. Unlike his little brother Donovan didn't do so many serious crimes, but he did a few crimes which brought him quite a bounty. The World Government gave him epithet him Black Dragon (黒龍,Kokuryū?) because of his ability to control black flames.

Donovan is very short for his age and many people confuse him with a kid of 15-16 years. He has a muscular build with some scratches on his back. He wears white a headband on his forehead which hides his third eye that he got when testing one of his experiments. Donovan has black spiky hair with white streaks and dark blue outlining. He has crimson eyes which are usually at Dragon family members. Donovan usually wears his long black coat with white collar. Under it he wears a black undershirt with the ends of the sleeves ripped off a little. His black pants are tucked into black boots. He also wears a sword under his coat.
