The Zera Zera no Mi (ゼ ラ ゼ ラ の 実, lit. Gel Fruit) is an Paramecia type Akuma no Mi that gives the user the ability to create and manipulate gel, becoming a Gel Human (ゼラ人間, Zera Ningen ). It was eaten by Cannon D. Tyler.

Appearance

The fruit has the appearance of a round blueberry that clusters with some leaves on top.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

The greatest strength of this fruit is the ability to generate and manipulate gel, a gelatinous substance generated by colloidal dispersion in which the dispersed medium is in the solid state, and the dispersion medium in the liquid state. The gel is known to be liquid when stirred and to become solid when immobilized, which makes its properties somewhat flexible for the user. The user can solidify the gel he creates to generate strong blunt blows or fire geysers of pressurized liquid gel that can pierce even steel.

Tyler is known for manipulating the state of the gel he creates, which can make it slippery in liquid form and use it as a way of skating when dumping the gel on the floor, usually doing so by leaking gel from his calves. And also, as said before, it can manipulate the density of the gel, which can be used for both combat and inconveniences, for example, it could create a soft gel ball to protect you from a big drop or create a gel ball solid and use it like a real wrecking ball.

Another interesting feature is that Tyler can manipulate the friction of his gel, allowing him to control the viscosity, speed and heat of his gel, as these are the main frictional forces. With this, Tyler can accelerate the formation of his gel, generating pressure, and is capable of firing solid gel like bullets, and, by manipulating the viscosity, can make his gel sticky, which is very useful with the creation of firm strings gel that can swing at will or create extremely tight gel ties.

Tyler's gel also has great conductive properties, which can insulate large explosions, electricity and even the sound itself. It is a pretty dangerous skill, as Tyler can "store" power by combining that power with friction, carrying large amounts of pressure and momentum and releasing powerful shock waves that shake everything around. However, the main asset of this feature, is that Tyler can "cool" his gel, that is, he can absorb heat and use it to his advantage, allowing him to freeze his enemy by absorbing the heat from him or the area around him, similar to the refrigerant gel.

And last but not least, Zera Zera no Mi also confers some Logia skills, that is, Tyler can transform into a gel and obtain a form of intangibility. This classifies it as a special Paramecia, since the difference of this fruit to a true Logia, is that the Gel is a component created by man and does not come from nature.

Weakness

The gel is vulnerable to attacks by other elements, especially fire and heat, since these attacks evaporate the liquid and, as the gel is semi-solid, melts on contact with heat. The gel is also vulnerable to absorption-based abilities and can also be cut and sliced by weapons like sufficiently powerful swords.

Other than that, the user has the normal weaknesses of an Akuma no Mi.

Usage

Thanks to Tyler's strategic mind and creativity, he was able to adapt the powers of his fruit to different uses, making it very versatile. Tyler employs the use of Zera Zera no Mi for hand-to-hand and long-distance combat, but also uses it for other uses, such as assistance, locomotion and restriction.

Tyler mainly uses it for long distances, firing jets of pressurized gel or launching small balls of solid gel like bullets. It can also fire gel at formulated explosions and can be shaped like a dragon, a wolf and a pheasant. When it comes to hand-to-hand combat, Tyler's main method is to cover his hands with orbs of solidified gel that he can use as boxing gloves, or by creating small sheets of solid gel around his arms that he can use as a spear.

Tyler is also capable of creating gel constructions, being able to shape his shape in various tools, such as swords, hammers, spears, axes, flails and even other useful objects such as ropes, trampolines and nets. Other equipment includes shields, columns, blocks, walls, platforms, wheels, kunais, shurikens, among others. He can also create firearms like cannons and bazookas, and his favorite gel grenades.

Tyler often combines his ability to create ice with hand-to-hand combat and construction creations, creating powerful ice attacks in combination with his gel powers, and Tyler's main method of attack with this form is to shoot multiple arrows of ice at the target.

Techniques

Tyler usually starts his attacks by saying "Zera Zera no" and using the type of characteristic technique he wants to use.

Tyler seems to divide his types of attacks into three categories: melee attacks, projectile attacks and construction attacks, and his commitments alternate between English and Japanese.

Projectile-Based Techniques

Attacks that consist of shooting techniques and are used mainly at long range, although use at close range gives greater destructive power.

• Zera Zera no Shuryūdan' ( ゼラゼラの榴弾 ''Gel Gel Grenade' ): Tyler's signature attack. Tyler gathers an amount of gel in his hand, to the point of being the size of a ping-pong ball, and in this, he makes it start spinning at high speed with friction, which causes the ball to constantly store momentum. After a while, he throws the ball towards the enemy, and if he touches the ball or lets it stay in the air for a long time, the force stored inside the sphere is released, generating a massive kinetic explosion that generates shock waves violent. This is undoubtedly Tyler's favorite attack, since it is his signature, having destroyed several ships and buildings with this attack, which ended up generating his nickname "Tyler of the Explosions".
• Zera Zera no Dangan ( ゼラゼラの弾丸 "Gel Gel Bullet" ): A smaller version of Zera Zera no Shuryūdan and is constantly the most used attack, although it is not his signature. Tyler creates small spheres of gel in the hand of his choice and, as in the previous technique, he spins them at high speed so they can accumulate power. In this, instead of launching them all at once, Tyler solidifies before firing, and when fully loaded, Tyler shoots them like real bullets that travel at great speeds thanks to him being able to manipulate their speed. Bullets can travel at supersonic speeds and are capable of breaking concrete walls on impact, proving to be a power to be reckoned with, despite being weaker than their original technique.

• Zera Zera no Taihō ( ゼラゼラの大砲 " Gel Gel Cannon " ): Tyler gathers a high a large amount of gel around his hands, forming a rotating sphere that accumulates momentum every second. After that, he launches it at the target, generating a huge hydro-explosion that causes violent shock waves, having, according to Tyler, 10 times more power than Zera Zera in Shuryūdan.
• Zera Zera no Kōsen ( ゼラゼラの光線 " Gel Gel Beam " ): Tyler puts his hands in the shape of a bowl and concentrates a huge amount of gel around it, starting to create friction and pressure. As he concentrates the gel, it begins to vibrate and become a kind of energy, and so Tyler fires a beam of pressurized gel like a geyser that is capable of destroying large buildings acting like pressurized water.

Melee Combat Based Techniques

• Zera Zera no Ken (ゼラゼラの拳, "Gel Gel Fist"): Tyler gathers gel around his hands in the shape of a sphere and solidifies it, making it a kind of boxing gloves. In addition to being used to fight, orbs can also act as a barrier that allows it to reach substances that would harm it, such as piercing poison or deflecting projectiles.
  • Zera Zera no Ken: Jab (ゼラゼラの拳: ジャブ): Tyler punches a quick, explosive punch reinforced by his gel glove. It is a simple but highly effective blow, and can be used to repel the enemy, attack from different angles or simply cause damage
  • Zera Zera no Ken: Hook (ゼラゼラの拳: 針): Tyler punches him while his arm is bent at a 90 ° angle, causing devastating damage and usually being used to hit the head, temple or jaw.
  • Zera Zera no Ken: Uppercut (ゼラゼラの拳: アッパーカット): Tyler throws a powerful upper punch that is capable of throwing the opponent into the air.
  • Zero Zero no Ken: Straight (ゼラゼラの拳: まっすぐ): From a defensive position (fists at eye level), the fist is released with the back hand crossing the body in a straight line towards the target. Locomotion Based Techniques

• Zera Zera no Su ( ゼラゼラの巣 " Gel Gel Web " ): Tyler positions his use hand, bending the two middle fingers and leaving the index, little finger and thumb raised (imitating Spider-Man's position when launching the web). After that, he shoots a string of viscous gel, sticking to almost any surface and using it to move like a monkey on a vine.
  • Zera Zera no Pachinko ( ゼラゼラのパチンコ " Gel Gel Springshot " ): A variation on the prior technique used to travel great distances. Tyler fires two webs of gel with both arms, usually sticking them against a surface where he can hold them apart. After that, he starts to gain distance while the elastic strength of the webs absorbs momentum, and thus, he loosens up and is thrown with great force like a human slingshot.
